LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Developing project goals and triple constraints (scope, time, cost) are critical to ensuring your project success. However, unplanned and uncertain events do happen, how do you manage it? How do you proactively manage those risks in the different stages of the project? How do you reduce the “fire- fighting”, especially project nearing its completion?

The answers lie in good and proactive Risk Management knowledge, skills, and practice. In addition to the basic Risk Management processes, this course introduces the Proactive Risk Lifecycle Management (PRiLM) to manage your project risks successfully. It provides a proactive, systematic and lifecycle approach to risk management and ensures your project success!

With the knowledge and skills acquired at the end of the course, the articipants will be able to use Proactive Risk Lifecycle Management (PRiLM) approach to effectively plan, manage and monitor the project risks. This a systematic approach will, in turn, ensure successful project completion and meeting project objectives.

COURSE OUTLINES

The course covers the principles of Project Risk Management and the 7 Risk Management processes, and effective and practical ways to manage project risks throughout Project Management Stages.   Various tools and templates are introduced throughout the program.

  • Plan Risk Management – is the process of defining how to conduct risk management activities for a project. Understanding of the procurement contract life cycle, delivery methods and contact related risks are critical for your projects.
  • Identify Risks – is the process of determining which risk may affect the project and document their characteristics.
  • Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis – is the process of prioritizing risks for further analysis or action by assessing and combining their probability of occurrence and impact.
  • Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis – is the process of numerically analyzing the effect of identified risks on overall project objectives.
  • Plan Risk Responses – is the process of developing options and actions to enhance opportunities and to reduce threats to project objectives.
  • Implement Risk Responses – is the process of executing the risk responses that planned earlier.
  • Monitor Risks – is the process of implementing risk response plans, tracking identified risks, monitoring residual risks, identifying new risks, and evaluating risks process effectiveness throughout the project.

 A comprehensive case study is included to impress learning.  Participants will work as a project team and apply the learning using the case study, from Project Initiating and Planning, to Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and closing of the project. Retrospective sessions will be conducted for participants to reflect and learn.  The training also introduces many practical tools, templates, case studies and exercises to enhance learning.
